SSRS redirecting https to http RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, recently we upgraded SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008R2 along with SSRS. for database side every thing is running but from SSRS end there was an issue. when i am accessing the url https:sqlreports.microsoft.com/reportserverthen it was working fine when i open a report and go to properties and click on subscriptions or datasources or parameters or processing options or report history then it will redirect to http:sqlreports.microsoft.com/reportserver as   and displays error internet explorer can not display the webpage. when i add "s" to the http and run https again it works and subscriptions parameters every thing works. now i am confused why this is happening network team says it needs to be resolved from application end. i configured SSRS with valid SSL certificate removed http every thing i tried but no luck. please share your views to help me from this issue.

  • Hi Madhava433,

According to your description, you have configured a report server URL for SSL in RSCM. So that you are able to access the report server with https:// URL, but if you open any report, the URL will display as http://, right?

In your scenario, since you mention the http:// URL has been removed from the Report Server Configuration Manager, but the report server open report with http:// URL, please check the URL reservation in RSReportServer.config file(default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer), make sure only https:// URL for report server exists. For more information, please refer to this article: About URL Reservations and Registration (Reporting Services).

In Reporting Services 2008 R2, the methods that require a secure connection are determined by the SecureConnectionLevel setting in the RSReportServer.config file. The value of the setting is an integer value with a valid range of 0 and higher. In your scenario, please specify the value of SecureConnectionLevel property with a positive integer to make all the web service methods to use SSL. For more information, please refer to articles below:
