How to connect a Access database with smart device application RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is  that possible to connect Access database with smart device application?

My requirement is i have a login form created with smart device controls..
I should have a access database with Username and corresponding Password, whenever the user enters his username and password it should check for it in the database..If it is correct then he can proceed..
Similarly i have  a registration form for the new user, he is asked to enter all his details..Once it is entered it has to be updated to the database..

How can i make the connectivity with the Access database from the smart device application using C#..

  • There’s no Access database on devices and desktop Access does not really allows for remote connections. If you have remote database you can create web service which would act as a proxy between device and Access database.

It is, however, easier to ditch the Access and use SQL CE if you need a local database or SQL Express if you need a remote one. Both are natively supported on devices with full set of tools and designers.
