  • Does users see any latency or slow response time during backup of prod system? How the data engine capture changes during backup process?

  • Backup is a all related to I/O which is directly proportional to CPU. If you've a good infrastructure you can see light load on the system.

    You can expect a overload on CPU during the backup process which in turn degrades the performance of the database. That is the reason most of the FULL or Differential backup are scheduled during non-business hours.

  • SQL Server backups performed during production hours increases I/O activity and has the potential for a negative impact on performance. Also depends on size of database is its small not much to worry.

    Hi,

    Queries as such would not run slow because backup reads data from Disk and writes to disk an does not causes blocking. In some cases it might slow the system a bit but no significant impact.
