DataDirect ADO.NET shows no tables in entity data model wizard in Oracle RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone I am using Silverlight 3 on VSTS 2008 and I'm trying to use Entity Framework model using DataDirect 3.5 to connect to my Oracle 11g server. However, In the entity data model wizard, no tables or views show up, and this has never happened before when I was doing the same thing with SQL database. Another wierd thing is that I am able to view all the tables and views on Server Explorer window. Does anyone know how to fix this error or have seen this before?

  • Hi,

EF is WCF for SQL does not support Oracle DB, But you can creat you custom Provider class DAL>>Bussiness Logic Layer-BLL>>

this will automatically generate Object context for you

  • Thank you for the reply, but I'm not quite understanding what you mean with "DAL>>Bussiness Logic Layer-BLL>>" is this some kind of inheritance structure?

  • Hi,

What I mean. you should know about n-tier applications

1.Creat Data Access Layer - DAL.

2.Create DataBase Provider for Oracle DataBase.

    3.Create Custom Entities.(Business Logic Layer).

    Hope you understand.
