SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition on Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I need to install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition to a Windows 7 client 64-bit. Is it possible? I've a doubt about SQL Server 2005 Dev. Edit.. I remember that it is to 32-bit but it could function on Windows 7 64-bit.

    Thanks

  • No, Developer Edition x64 for SQL Server 2005 exist:

The 64-bit features are available on SQL Server 2005 Standard, Enterprise, and Developer editions.

    SQL Server 2005 on a 64-bit Platform

If you are a Microsoft Partner, you can download it from the msdn subscriber area:

Look for SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition - 64-bit Extended, the File Name is en_sql_2005_dev_x64_cdX.iso

  • Yes, install first SQL Server 2005 BUT do not install client tools, then install SQL Server 2008 R2 but at this time along with client tools

    Thanks

  • SQL Server 2005 Developer 32 bit is supported in Windows 7 x64, but is necessary to upgrade it to Service Pack 3:

For all editions of SQL Server 2005 running on Windows 7 and on Windows Server 2008 R2 , you must have at least SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed.

  • Ok, Fran, so you say that it doesn't exit a SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition 64-bit.
