Cannot hide "NewFolder" button from folder context menu in OL2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    In Outlook 2013, when right click a folder in left pane tree view, there is a "New Folder" button displayed in the context menu. We need to hide the button in our VSTO addin. We used to be able to do it in Outlook 2010 by following code, but could not get it done in OL2013.

    Ribbon xml:

    <contextMenu idMso="ContextMenuFolder" >
          <button idMso="NewFolder" visible="false" />

           or

          <button idMso="NewFolder" getVisible="GetVisible" />      //// return false in callback
     </contextMenu>

    Am I doing it correctly?
    I can use the same method to hide other buttons in the folder context menu.

    Thanks

    jhou

  • In Outlook 2013 repurposing of ribbon controls, including those in context menus, would be done by using the <commands><command> tags and setting visible to false, either in a callback or in the ribbon XML.

  • Hi Ken,

    Thank you for your suggestions.

    I've tried with code below,

    <commands>
      <command idMso="NewFolder" visible="false" />
    </commands>

    but VS reminds me that visible attribute is not declared.

    I also tried to set the enabled attribute to false, but this only affects the "NewFolder" button on "Folder" Tab->"New" Group.

    Moments ago, I've noticed that there's an update on this issue claims that it has been logged for further track.

    Best regards,
