Limitations of Microsoft Translator API RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can anybody list out the Limitations in using Microsoft API?

How good is the translation quality in terms of grammer?

Is there an option of translation of each letter if there is no equivalent meaning for that word in the translated language? Eg: Any Acronyms. FLA,BDG etc..

  • Hi Priyadharshini,

The quality of Machine Translation will vary from language to language.  The API, however, is quite powerful, and gives you a large number of options and parameters.  See http://www.microsofttranslator.com/dev/ and http://www.microsofttranslator.com/web/ for specifics.  I would like to point out, in particular, the collaborative/widget options which allow you to supply human translations (i.e., those provided by you or the crowd of users using your web site) to replace MT'd content (e.g., in cases where the Machine Translated content may not be as good as human translated content).

Your last question refers to a process of transliteration, which we actively use in many of our languages, in particular, from/to those languages that do not use latin script.

Hope my response answers your questions, or points you in the right direction.
