How does Virtualization work? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Virtualization Gurus,

Can someone explain to a novice how virtualization utilizes more capacity of the cpu if the vmm still can only send one instruction at a time to the chip? Is it any different than in a non-virtual machine where the OS may multi-task but is still only sending one instruction at a time? I am trying to understand if the multiple virtual OSs are hitting the cpu in parallel and if not, if virtualization really utilizes more of the cpu. Thanks ever so much!!
