VB Express 2008 on Win7 (x64) - Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 provider not registered on local machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hope someone has a solution, this has officially made me crazy..

I'm re-setting an old vb project (with an access 2007 mdb) on a new machine. I've done this successfully MANY times before, but for some reason is failing this time..

I know to check the debug and compile settings for running 32bit on 64bit OS.. already went thru the project property screens and set accordingly to x86.

re-checked app.config connectionstring paths, physical file locations etc etc.. even ran the command prompt to try manually register the JET dlls in sysWOW64, rebuilt/cleaned project solution, closed/reopened solution.. yadda yadda..

STILL getting the not registered.. error mssg!! UGH

help?? what else can i check or try?? did i forget something? should i try uninstalling VBE2008 and reinstall? (HATE to do that but will as last resort)

Answers

  • It should be the Platform option you need to change to x86 (Build...Configuration Manager...).
