Birdseye is currently available in the experimental branch of the V8 SDK. This does not yet appear in the map type drop down of the map and not planned to till around august or September. You can however set the map type programmatically. You can find an example here: https://www.bing.com/api/maps/mapcontrol/isdk?autoRedirect=false#birdseyeV2+JS
Bing Maps V8 has a new Birdseye experience which uses new imagery data format. New imagery is being processed, however only about 25% of the imagery is online so far. The rest will be added over the next few months. This is part of the reason for not showing a button in the map type drop down yet.
The "Birdseye" experience on the Bing Maps website currently isn't actually Birdseye like we had in V7 and is all really old imagery. That is not the new experience being added to the V8 SDK. The bing Maps website will likely switch to the next experience in a month or two.

Hi,
Can you please give an update on the status of the Bird's Eye imagery processing for V8, and an ETA on when all of the imagery will be available? We're finding that Bird's Eye is not available in many areas in V8 that it was on V7 and on the public site. In other cases Bird's Eye is available in one angle but when you try to rotate it just reverts to the previous view, I'm assuming because the imagery from the alternate angle is not available.
I understand that V8 is providing a new experience, but what I don't understand is why customers were forced off of V7 (which worked fine) before V8 was completely ready. Bird's Eye mode is a critical feature for us, so from our customers' perspective we're now delivering an inferior product by having had to switch to V8.
Thanks,
Rich

Not all birdseye imagery that was in V7 will be in V8 as much of the birdseye imagery in V7 is for rural areas and has never been accessed/viewed by users. The imagery is also very old in V7. Bing Maps V8 has a lot of new imagery in it, and a lot more imagery coming. Not all imagery is available from all angles. This was also true in V7.
Send me an email at richbrun at microsoft.com and we can discuss further.
