Is it possible to use TCP in WCF Data Service ? RRS feed

  • Hello All,

                   We are working on WPF application, in this we have to work with large data .

    we previously using direct sql connection , is it possible to get the speed near to speed of that using Wcf Data service .

    I see one sample to use TCP in WCF service, but it is not working with WCF Data Service. is it work with WCF data service . or any other ways ?

    Sorry. It is not possible. WCF Data Services are built on top of REST, and REST itself is based on the HTTP verbs like GET, PUT, POST. So it is build on the HTTP protocol.

    Http can be fast but it depends on the nature of your data - is it just a matter of bytes or do you have many object etc. Many people have posted blog posts with tests on different types of data. Try to find an article / blog post with a test with data that is similar to yours.

                     I see one link   Comparison of HTTP polling duplex and net.tcp performance in Silverlight 4 RC in side that it using" HTTP polling duplex protocol " . is it possible to use that protocol in Dataservice .
