Should SL 5 work with VS 2013 and Windows 10? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to run in the debugger, I get a dialog that says:

"Unable to start debugging. The Silverlight Developer Runtime is not installed. The latest runtime can be downloaded at

        http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=146060"

Is this really needed?  It ran before updating to Windows 10.

OR is this just because it is trying to launch Edge instead of IE?  (I tried making IE the default browser in the Windows settings, but not sure if it took or not)

  • I DID download the developer runtime. I uninstalled plugin and runtime. Then installed them both again using the new developer file (even though it was the same version and file size). Now it is working.

It IS using IE.  Don't know if it had to know the default browser BEFORE the install and then it didn't check again, or what.

    ... time passes ...

It was definitely the use if IE as the default.  When I switched back to Edge, got the same message again.  Switching back to IE again, everything was ok.  Wish there were a setting in VS to specify browser to use, but I couldn't find any.
