  • I have not seen SDIO boot support in WES7. Do you have a system that supports SDIO boot devices in the BIOS?

Yes, it can be done. I did it but it needed some additional SDIO drivers
from the board manufacturer (Kontron im my case) and a time-consuming
procedure to got it to work.
First needed to set up the system to run on a HDD and initialize all the
registry entries for the SDIO interface by a one-time access to it. Then
the image could be copied to the SD card and boot and run from there.
According to Kontron, there is no way around this procedure and I dint
have the time to try to establish it without the HDD detour.

  • WES7 SP1 gets SD Boot Support.

    SD Boot:

-Enable building and installation of Windows Embedded Standard 7 images on SD card.
-Boot a Windows Embedded Standard 7 image from an SD card (no roaming)

  • I guess the cat is out of the bag. I'm not sure where Knarz got his information but we were planning on announcing it shortly :)

I can confirm we are planning to supply SDBoot as an additional package with Windows Embedded Standard SP1.

Note this SDBoot package is not present in the preview of SP1 that has been available. The package will be selectable in ICE and IBW when building from the SP1 Distribution Share.

We hope to make SP1 available in the coming weeks and will announce it here as soon as we have released it.

  • Thank you for confirming the issue.

Is the SP1 will be available for users with Evaluation version of WES7?

  • Hi Leonid,

Yes. We'll be making SP1 available in the same way and through the same channels as the RTM version. you'll be able to install the toolkit and distribution shares to update an existing installation or as a fresh installation.

In addition we will also be making available update cabs to allow exisitng Windows Embedded Standard 7 images to be updated to SP1.
