closing IE windows in Win8 Dev Prev RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here's the problem. With Win8 it is impossible tro close all windows in IE10 and I can not load Flash unless they are closed. Would someone please tell me what I have missed. Firefox seems to have this down pat, why doesn't Microsoft? Anytime you hit the IE web icon you get flipped back to that app in Metro and I would rather on my PC just stay on the desktop. Any way I can default all IE work to the desktop on my PC?

  • What version of IE are you using. A desktop version? The Metro style version of IE 10 does not support extentions neither does it provide for tab management.

open IE10 in metro mode, take your pointer to the lower left corner of your screen to open the Charms menu, click on Settings, click on Default view for links, choose Desktop view as your preferred view for links.

  • Any time you have something open that you'd like closed, don't forget that you can right-click on the Taskbar and choose Start Task Manager then do an End Task.
