Limit blob size upload & Limit how long a downloadURL is valid

    Question

  • Hi All,

We are currently developing software and we are using the Windows Azure Blob Storage to store files from the users.

The clients get a URL, eg. "https://test.blob.core.windows.net/blob-container/1444214962968_123jasdoiasdjkqw1?se=2015-10-07T11:49:23Z&sr=b&sp=w&sv=2012-02-12&sig=signature"

We are wondering if the following things are possible:

We would like to limit the maximum size our users are able to upload per URL. For example 1 MB instead of the current 2GB.

We would like to limit the validation of a retrieve-from-azure url. We would like to let it expire after a few minutes or expire if it has been downloaded once/twice.

Does anybody know the answers to these problems?

    Kind regards

  • Hi,

Don't think there is a possiblity to do this in Blob Storage, you could create a REST service or web upload page that will limit this.

You can set the end time on the shared access signature to DataTime.UtcNow.AddMinutes(5) and it will expire after 5 minutes. The once or twice download will have to be done with a REST service.
