Archive Mailboxes in Seperate Exchange Server 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I have exchange 2010 configured and running 4 roles on it, it is simple design running on vmware. I am planning to add secondary mailbox server so that to hold all users's archive mailboxes. Is it possible.

Have 50 mailboxes (MAPI users), presently all of them are using local personal folder instead i want to upload it to the Exchange mailbox archive folder. We have hosted in VMware with dual xeon processor with 20 GB ram and we have not implemented DAG.

The purpose is to have secondary mailbox server only having exchange archive data so that the production server will not be loaded and affects the performance.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Starting from Exchange 2010 Service Pack 1 , you can provision a user's personal archive on the same mailbox database as the user's primary mailbox, another mailbox database on the same Mailbox server, or a mailbox database on another Mailbox server in the same Active Directory site.
