Unable to delete storage account that has no container. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got an error like this when I tried to delete my storage account.

    > Failed to delete storage account 'portalvhdsdgchsgd8xxqw3'. Error: Unable to delete storage account 'portalvhdsdgchsgd8xxqw3': 'Storage account portalvhdsdgchsgd8xxqw3 has some active image(s) and/or disk(s), e.g. monami-builder-monami-builder-1-201502090805250513. Ensure these image(s) and/or disk(s) are removed before deleting this storage account.'.

But there have no blob, no container. monami-builder-monami-builder-1-201502090805250513 has already removed.

Why does Azure reject my operation?

  • Hi,

    Thank you for posting here!

This error could most likely be due to a Virtual Machine image or disk, associated with your storage account, still in use. The below link has detailed steps to help resolve the issue: Troubleshoot deleting Azure storage accounts, containers, or VHDs in a classic deployment

  • I found some associations in Classic Portal, VIRTUAL MACHINE > DISKS.

My container become removable after deleting associations above.

Shihab, thanks for your reply and solution.
