Business Rule to Assign Domain Attribute RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a 5-level drug classification system from WHO's ATC file loaded into my MDS model.  The ATC_5 entity has a domain attribute called ATC_4_Code to reference ATC_4, etc.

I have also created a drug_item entity that will pull data from my transactional system.  This entity has a domain attribute called ATC_5_Code that is blank by default.  I would like to create a business rule that compares the name of the drug_item entity to the ATC_5 entities; if it finds a match, it should edit the atribute ATC_5_code to equal the code of the ATC_5_entity it matches.

I know I can do this through a stored procedure, but I would prefer a business rule.  Is it possible to compare data across entities that have not yet been linked?

  • Hi Brian

I'm not sure from your description how you are planning to do the lookup - do you have the drug_item name on the ATC_5 entity?
