No SELECT permission for hosted database RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hello,

I do not have SELECT permission for a hosted database.

My db hosting company states, "

We have no issues.  Do you have the error message or a way I can recreate your issue.  I believe the issue is with your method or code.

    "

My db code works fine on my local db.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  • Make sure the account that you are using to connect to the hosted database has access with required permissions.

The account you are using in your connection string must be present as a login in the hosted SQL server and as user in

    corresponding database in question.

The hosted db administrator did not set the permissions properly.

  • Hello,

How do you connect to the hosted instance of SQL Server? You must have a valid login, that login must be mapped to a user account in the hosted database and this database user account must be gramted SELECT permission on the table in some way (directly, through database role...).

    MP,

I connect through a url "Data Source" attribute in the connection string.  I also include the correct username and password.

Could my login credentials be incorrect?

    Thanks.

I'm sorry. I connect with the correct SQL Server hostname.
