Power Pivot for Excel Data Model UI keeps (Not Responding) - common?/tips?/how to report? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Occasionally I have this problem when the Data Model windows locking up.

(I say Occasionally, but once I get this on a file...then that file will consistently start having problems)

In this case, I open up the XLS, Open up the data model and then as soon as I switch to a different tab the UI for the Data Model stops responding.

    Is this common?

Any tips on how to fix?  (I assume it's something in my file that's been corrupted since I can open up another file and it's ok)

How do I report this?  ( Can't seen a FROWN because, duh)

    Thanks,

    Alex

  • Hi Ed,

I threw the file away and recreated it. (this took some of the pain away in recreating it: https://www.sqlbi.com/tools/power-pivot-utilities/)

Same exact everything.  And now it works.  Gut feel is that something in the file got corrupted.

To be clear, I know about the frown(and have had great response from ya'll on issues in the past using it)...the problem is that, once the UI locks up, you can't use the frown anymore.

    Thanks!,

  • Alex, have you made any progress with this?

You can send a Frown to the Power Pivot team if you run into any more troubles. Thanks!
