High CPU usage Kinect SDK beta2 RRS feed

  • Hello!! I would like to know that  Kinect SDK beta2 need to be high CPU power more than beta1.

    Please try to Sample Shape Game. My PC gets near 100% CPU usage with Kinect SDK beta2. Before that, it was under 60%.

    what are the specs of your machine?

    MacBook Pro with Boot Camp, Win7

    Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz

    4GB 1066MHz SDRAM

    NVIDIA GeForce 320M

    250GB HDD

  • Unfortunately this machine is below recommended minimum requirements:

    Hardware:

    • 32 bit (x86) or 64 bit (x64) processor
    • Dual-core 2.66-GHz or faster processor
    • Dedicated USB 2.0 bus
    • 2 GB RAM
    • A Kinect for Windows sensor which includes special USB/power cabling

    As you have seen, lower spec machine may be able to use the Kinect SDK, however you may experience behavior similar to what you see (100% CPU usage, slower framerates, etc.).
