Alien : How do I write to a tag from a particular antenna


  • Hi,


    I need to write to tag from Alien reader (9780 or 8800) via the Biztalk RFID using the DSPI for Alien.


    Need help as to how to do it. If possible pls provide sample code for the event handler to perform the tag write operation.


    Please suggest.

    The above link has information on how to write to a tag using BizTalk Rfid. The post has some code and

    instead of  [ connection.WriteTagId(tagid, null, null); ]

    use [connection.WriteTagId(deviceSourceName,tagId,newAcessCode,newKillCode,passCode,vendorDefinedParameters) ]


    where deviceSourceName is the name of your antenna.

  • Do we need to set any configuration so that only one antenna will be used to write to the tag?

    you can specify the name of the antenna as deviceSourceName and only that antenna will be used to write the tag.

  • With Alien readers, antennae have read-only names consisting of a digit.

    E.g.:  "0", "1", "2", "3"

    If you don't specify it the Alien custom property ProgAntenna will be used by the provider internally for programming tags on a specific antenna.

    Thanks for your response.


    We need to know about the feasibility of “write to Tag and verify” using Alien 9800 reader from event handler BizTalk RFID, when the conveyer will move at 125ft/min speedIs this possible?  If yes, then what is the expected tag write success percentage? Do you have any test data on this aspect?
