Image downscaling quality

    Question

  • My app needs to display images from arbitrary web sources downscaled to thumbnail size.

    Unfortunately the quality of the downscaled images is very poor.

    Older versions of IE supported the proprietary style:

    -ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic;

    which seems to be deprecated starting with IE9. Is there any way to get good looking downscaled images in IE10 which seems to be in use for Metro WinJS apps?

  • So Microsoft latest and greatest Browser IE10 is not able to downscale images nicely even though earlier versions could. Bummer.
