Does WES7 X64 support disk formatted as FAT File System? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a 1MB Onboard Battery Backup SRAM Disk.

In WES7 x64, when using the Windows format utiility to format the Disk (with the FAT File System) it fails to format the disk.

In WES7 x64, when using the Windows format utiility to format the Disk (with the exFAT File System) it works.

In WES7 x86/WinXP x32/WinXP x64, when using the Windows format utiility to format the Disk (with the FAT File System) it works.

    Does WES7 x64 support FAT12 File System?

    Does WES7 x64 support FAT16 File System?

Does WES7 x64 support disk formatted as FAT File System?

    Thanks.

And this is completely wrong. (only not as system partition - but 1mb disk can't be system partition ;)

Haven't tested fat12 or fat16 but you can just try to partitionize with diskpart
    format fs=fat12/fat16 whatever.

    fat32 of course is supported.

    btw why 1mb sram disk?

  • The maximum size of Onboard Battery Backup SRAM Disk is 1MB.

The fat32 is not supported because 1MB is less than the fat32 Minimum size Requirements.

I’ve tried the format command: format fs=fat12/fat16/fat

It fails to format the disk.

  • I didn’t try it on winpe.

I tried to format the Disk (with the FAT File System) in WES7 x86, WinXP x86 and WinXP x64, it works.
