Connecting to MSDE engine

Question

Hello everyone

In lan on machine SQL MSDE is installed .... I am trying to connect to that server using ODBC from a computer on which sql server is not installed .... I am getting error message server doesn't exists or access denied ... although server is there and running and username and password is also correct .....

The first thing I look for when the "doesn't exist..." appears is name resolution. Double check the name of the server and the name of the instance to make sure you don't have a typo. Also try connecting using the server's ip address rather than its name to see if it's a name resolution issue.
