using HTTPHandlers for a Bckground image in a MasterPage in asp.net 2.0 RRS feed

    Hi there.

     I am using a background image in a master page like this:

    <body BACKGROUND="SOMEIMAGE.GIF">

    Is there some way that I can use an HTTPHandler to render this image to eliminate page flicker?

    I've been looking for samples on how to do this, but haven't found any.

    Thanks,,,

    Doug

    Not sure how that would eliminate page flicker, but, if you specified the background image in the first block of the first stylesheet defined on the page, that should make the background image the third request from the browser (I think ;-) ).

    Hi Doug,

    The background tag is deprecated and you should use background-image:url('g.gif'); in the style sheet instead.

    Also background image flickering is an issue with IE6 and here is a helpful link on the same:

    http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2006/05/29/Eliminating-CSS-Image-Flicker-with-IE6.aspx

    In this post, there is a link on how to use a handler regarding this issue.

    Hope this helps,

    Vivek
