How to configure reporting services in SSL mode? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a website where a cert is already installed and works fine. Reporting service in already installed on the same server, and it seems working fine too because I have no problem access the standard report manager page locally, however I am not able to access it from out side. When I tried to access it locally, I use http://localhost/reports, the page will be brought up. Since the server has a cert installed, so I was trying to use https://servername/reports to access it, but I got an error message:

    The page cannot be displayed

You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed.

    Please try the following:

    • Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access.

HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied.
    Internet Information Services (IIS)

    Technical Information (for support personnel)

    • Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 403 .
    • Open IIS Help , which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Configuring ISAPI Extensions , Configuring CGI Applications , Securing Your Site with Web Site Permissions , and About Custom Error Messages .
    • In the IIS Software Development Kit (SDK) or at the MSDN Online Library , search for topics titled Developing ISAPI Extensions , ISAPI and CGI , and Debugging ISAPI Extensions and Filters .

If I tried to deploy my report to the server, I will get this error:

A connection could not be made to the report server https://iscsgswebup01.xxx.xxx/reportserver. (Microsoft Report Designer)

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

    Thank you very much.

  • You will need to go to the Reporting Service Configuration Manager,
    1. Click the Report Manager
    2. Click Advanced
    3. Click Add in "Multiple SSL Identies for Report Manager"
    4. Choose the SSL port and the certificate you wish to apply
These steps are for SSRS 2008 , SQL 2005 will be the same concepts may be a little different steps
