What is importance of Build Number is Assembly Version ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In version of an assembly e.g., 2.5.323.3 , the third number indicates Build number .

"If a company builds its assembly every day then that indicate its build number".

This definition i found somewhere ,but what is the need for creating same assembly daily by a company. If there is some minor changes minor version number will change. But if there is not even minor change then what is the need for creating same assembly every day ?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

"If a company builds its assembly every day then that indicate its build number". - is meant during active team development the assemblies are built daily for testing, surely when there is no development/no changes there is no build and the build number isn't incremented.
