Formatting Tables in EW RRS feed

  • Question

  • Under the 'old' regime one could set the cell padding and cellspacing for an entire table within the table tag.  Under the latest CSS regime this method is obsolete.  I have a couple of questions:
    1.  How do I set the cell spacing for an entire table and do it just once?
    2.  How do I set cellpadding without having to apply a style to every single cell in a table which can be onerous on a large table, especially when compared to doing it the 'old' way?
Any and all sugegstions will be welcome.

  • Cellpadding and cellspacing for a table are still valid for HTML and XHTML. You'll notice that EW doesn't say that 'newer constructs are recommended'.

You can't yet create the same effect in CSS and have it work in all browsers. 'border-spacing' is the equivalent to 'cellspacing' but isn't rendered by IE6 or IE7.
