.NET framework will not reload from CD RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running an Inspiron 9300 with XP Home Edition SP3

I could not download the updates for .NET 3.5, so I was instructed to run a .NET cleaing tool that deleted all of my .NET files. I then attempted to download .NET framework from the website, but it hung up. Doing a little more research I decided to attempt to do a fix or reinstall from the original CD. Each time I attempt to reinstall the program it hangs up.

As directed from another thread, I ran Installer and saw various version of the installer software for 1.0, 1.1, and 1.1 SP3 - I attempted to repair each of them but the message states that the software must be installed first.

Any ideas as to my next steps? Do I have to completely delete any files that I don't know about or is there a work around? I'm at a loss...I appreciate any assistance.

BTW - an error message pops up stating that .NET framework 2.0 must be installed first...

that makes no sense since I can't even get .Net framework to install
