  • Hi,

    I would like to know how the deviceId used in Activesync protocol is created : is there a mean to determine it? what are the specifications in the Activesync protocol?

  • The specifications for Activesync can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc425499%28v=EXCHG.80%29.aspx (look for the ones that start with MS-AS).

    DeviceId is specified in [MS-ASHTTP], Section 2.2.1.1.1.5  "Device ID" which states:

     A string that specifies the device. Each device MUST have a unique DeviceId string. Each request
     from the device MUST include the same DeviceId string.

    I don't think the protocol requires any particular format. I'd probably do something like generate a GUID and hex-encode it.
