  • Hi,

I would like to know how the deviceId used in Activesync protocol is created : is there a mean to determine it? what are the specifications in the Activesync protocol?

  • The specifications for Activesync can be found at (look for the ones that start with MS-AS).

DeviceId is specified in [MS-ASHTTP], Section  "Device ID" which states:

A string that specifies the device. Each device MUST have a unique DeviceId string. Each request
from the device MUST include the same DeviceId string.

I don't think the protocol requires any particular format. I'd probably do something like generate a GUID and hex-encode it.
