Compact Framework? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Vijaye,
Do you have any plans to target the Compact Framework?
I think it would be fun to create programs and games for a Windows Mobile device.

  • That is a great idea, Rushworks.  I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Lately I've been exploring frameworks like XNA and Microsoft Robotics.  I'll add Compact framework to the list too.

  • I teach with the Lego Mindstorms robots using a language called RobotC.  It is similar to Small Basic in the sense it is nice and simple.  It would be nice to use Small Basic to control the robots.  I can then eliminate one more language I have to figure out the idiosyncrosies of.

  • I would say that CF would be hard to port to since it has no support for WPF. In XNA PC you at least still have access to the Full .NET framework. For XNA on 360 and Zune there is no WPF.

There is some cross over though, XNA for 360 does use the Compact Framework.

I'll be interested to see what the Silverlight Mobile guys do for WPF on Windows Mobile. It would be nice if their SL WPF implementation would be usable by .NET CF.
