[SQL+Access 2003] Update Table 1 (Access) from Table 2 (Excel) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have an old employee table (Table 1) in Access format and I received an updated new one (Table 2) in Excel format.

How can I replace Table 1 with Table 2 without breaking relations with other tables under Access 2003 and still bound to VBA Form, please ?

    Thanks

  • I am not at my PC right now but you can import an Excel table into Access.  I find it best to use a named range to define the table in Excel.  On the SQL side you will need to figure out what exactly you need to update.  If some names exist already you may need to use a NOT IN subquery to only INSERT names that do not exist.

  • Hi,

    then here is my conditions:

1- Table 1 is old and need update and contains clients name

2- Table 2 is new and contain table 1 clients name and new names also

3- Table 2 will update Table 1 with new clients name only.

How do I design the query, please ?

    Thanks
