workflow emails periodically displaying variables rather than their values

    Question

  • I've got a workflow that is sending out an email. The email has various current item values in it. The problem is that the email is periodically send the current item variable name rather than its value, like this:

    To view a summary of [%Current Item:Title%]/[%Current
    Item:Bill Title%]
    and sign up......

I have not idea what would be causing this.

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you are trying to accomplish.

  • This is most likely from whomever made the workflow copy and pasted the formulas into the workflow instead of using the field lookup value. If you delete the formula and Add the values through the lookup it should work. The option is in the Email message window either in the bottom right or left of the window.

Define E-mail Message dialog box with text

    Hope this helps

  • I made the workflow and I did not copy anything.

  • Hi,

Please try to remove “[%Current Item:Title%]/[%Current Item:Bill Title%]” and add them by clicking Add or Change Lookup, then test whether the issue occurs.

Don’t type “[%Current Item:Title%]” manually or copy them from other workflows.

  • That was not the issue, but thank you for trying.  The issue is apparently gone now.  I had a logic flaw which I have corrected so it was likely related to that.
