Search returning a duplicate results of exact same URL RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are having issues with search returning exact same results with the same URL. The only difference that we can find are:

    1) additional author

    2) additional manage metadata

    3) casing on the url are different. (i.e. http://randomUrl/documents/Random-documents.doc  vs http://randomUrl/documents/random-documents.doc)

There are warnings on the logs stating the following:

"The filtering process could not load the item. This is possibly caused by an unrecognized item format or item corruption."

    We have doe the following:

    1) Clear the Index

    2) Recreate the service.

This is only happening on the office documents and not pdfs. I'm out of ideas on how to debug this issue.

We are using Standard Search in Sharepoint 2010 std ed.

    Thank you!

This is happening for aspx pages as well and there were no warnings for the duplicate pages. The only difference are the casing as well (i.e. http://randomUrl/TestPage.aspx vs http://randomUrl/testpage.aspx)

  • Did you upload the same document twice in different sites?

  • The document was uploaded once. Both URL are the same with different casing.

  • @VGP and kirkSece

I had the same issue, but with people search.

I agree with Zach. You probably have a content source specified twice in your search service application.
