Can I open an app programatically e.g. on a button click in Ribbon? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to open an app e.g. Bing Maps on a button click in Ribbon. My question is, is it possible to programatically open an app on some action in excel programming (preferably C#)? I don't want to go to Apps menu and select an App. I want it to happen it automatically on some action on sheet.

  • The Office object model doesn't provide any property or method for managing Apps. I.e. there is no trivial way to get this done. However, you may try to run the ribbon controls programmatically, the ExecuteMso method of the CommandBars class allows to run built-in controls.
