INF: Specifying WinUSB Lower filter driver RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to have WinUSB*.* use a configuration other than the default, for that, I have implemented a “Lower” KMDF Filter driver, this lower driver should intercept the SET_CONFIGURATION URB and choose a configuration other than the default.

I have implemented the KMDF filter driver as explained in this link, unfortunately, the INF is missing.

According to this link the driver has to use the "LowerFilters" INF notation

I have setup all of the above, now, I would like to have the lower filter driver attached to a specific device stack, What is the proper way to have PnP load the filter for a specific HW id ( USB\VID_nnnn&PID_nnnn ) ? how should the CoInstallers be incorporated ?

Is there any exiting sample project demonstrating such an INF file ( couldn't find any )

  • Did you look at the OSR sample's install from the current version on the web.  It specifically points out that you should look at the NONPNP sample for the install procedure.  Yes, the MSDN link talks about using an INF, but and INF is really just a script to do an install.  In this case, base your install on install.c from NONPNP.
