MultilineText won't render in GridView RRS feed

I have a Text field in my database, which renders as a MulitlineText control by default.  I am using ListEdit combined mode, and the field does not show up at all in the GridView.  It displays fine in the DetailsView, so I'm not sure what the problem is.  Any ideas?

By default, long strings are omitted from the grid as that could take too much space.  You can override this by writing an IAutoFieldGenerator.  Steve has some great posts on this, like this one.

    thanks,
    David

I was getting a "Failed to load viewstate." exception because the call replace the columns generator was in page load, and it needs to be before that (I used page init in this case).

That is exactly what I was looking for, thanks David.  I implemented a filter exactly like Steve show (the basic one), and it works fine on several of my pages.

Unfortunately, when I go click update or cancel when I'm in edit mode, I get a "Failed to load viewstate." error.  I'm not doing anything weird on the client side, so I'm not sure why this would be happening.  Any ideas on this?
