Hyper-V Isolation on Azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • I wanted to test Hyper-V isolation on Azure but I'm getting the following error:

    PS C:\> Install-WindowsFeature –Name Hyper-V

    Success Restart Needed Exit Code      Feature Result
    ------- -------------- ---------      --------------
    False   Maybe          Failed         {}
    Install-WindowsFeature : A prerequisite check for the Hyper-V feature failed.
    1. Hyper-V cannot be installed: The processor does not have required virtualization capabilities.

    I thought Windows 2016 supported nested HyperV? Is this an Azure limitation?

    Thanks

Answers

  • Yes, the limitation is with Azure. Nested virtualization is not supported, and such Hyper-V Containers will not work.
