Intermittent timeouts SQL server 2016 SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are seeing intermittent SQL timeouts on webservers. Upon investigating we found LoginTimers SniConsumerError 17830 in os_ring_buffers. We don't see any errors logged in SQL server errorlog or event viewer.

Is this error related to what we are seeing on web server/s? This doesn't seems to be load related as it happens even in less busy times of the day and CPU on this server never goes above 10-15%

    Vesrion - Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Standard (SP1) (KB3182545) - 13.0.4001.0 (X64)
    OS - Windows Server 2012
    Total Memory - 128
    Max Memory - 110

    Thanks

  • I do not think the error is related to SQL Server, this may be related to application settings. SQL Server would not drop connections unless someone closes the connection or work is done and the page open was closed

  • Thanks for quick response. Available memory for OS is always around 10 GB not sure how/why lowering max memory will fix the issue. I feel this is network related issue. What else can we review other than os_ring_buffers to find more information regarding why this could be happening.

    Thanks
