Push Notifications RRS feed

I'm new to this kind of stuff, and had just a couple questions for anyone who can answer for me:

1: Are there any good walk-throughs/tutorials you would recommend for getting a push notification system set up? 2: Is it required to go through a 3rd party (i.e. Azure, Google) to set those up, or is it something that could be set on our server? 3: Depending on #2, what's your recommendation? Are there any cheap/free options?

    hi @sqlt

    Hi

    Check following links

    https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/cross-platform/applicationfundamentals/notifications/ios/remotenotificationsinios/

    https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/cross-platform/applicationfundamentals/notifications/android/remotenotificationsinandroid/

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/xamarin-notification-hubs-push-notifications-android-gcm/

If I answer to your 2nd question its depend on your system. For an example if you implement something enterprise level application and your server host in azure you need to do hand shake with google(GCM),apple (APNS), Baidu (Android China, specially your app using in china GCM not supporting), etc. if not then you can use simple service from GCM.

For number three again its depend on your requirement.
