Smart Card Provider PIN requester in .net RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello to all. Is there a way to have the new Microsoft Smart Card Provider PIN requester in .net code ? I don't want to authenticate the PIN with a smart card, instead only have the requester to pop-up and then capture the PIN inserted by the user in my managed code. Maybe with also the new "secure desktop" version (like with PIN_INFO_REQUIRE_SECURE_ENTRY in the smart card minidriver API).

The requester I'm referring is the one in the picture below:

    Thanks for the help.

  • Hi,

The PIN dialog is triggered by the function CredUIPromptForWindowsCredentials.

The "PIN field" is from a credential provider, from which you can find the reference in the registry (SmartcardCredentialProvider.dll and {8bf9a910-a8ff-457f-999f-a5ca10b4a885})

However, I didn't how to invoke this dialog. I'm interested to know how to invoke it, if someone get to this thread with the solution later.

    regards,

    vincent
