Newbie: Add-In Installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm in the process of developing my first Outlook (2007/2010) add-in.  Since I'm planning to have multiple users download and install the add-in themselves via set up wizard, I'm hoping to make the process as seamless/easy as possible (aka-reduce the amount of support I'll have to provide.)

Right now, when a user goes to install my add-in, if the .Net Framework version 4 client profile and VSTO aren't installed, the user is prompted to install each one individually, then go back into my setup.  This isn't intuitive, especially for those users that aren't tech-savvy.

Is there a way to streamline this process, possible have my installer call/kick off installation of any prerequisites?

I've searched for resources/references but haven't been able to find anything that explains how to accomplish this, so I'm hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your time and assistance.

Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

I'm not sure whether your have tried distribute your program via Click Once. Did you try that?
