Site doesn't open right in Firefox RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to web design. I used Expression Web and CSS to create a website. It looks fine in Internet Explorer but when opened in Firefox  the graphics in the header of the master page float to a different part of the page. (specifically "Wavebar.gif")

    Can you Help?! Thanks

    Here is the code:

    <!-- Begin Container -->
    <div id="container" style="width: 761px">
     <!-- Begin Masthead -->
     <div id="masthead" style="width: 100%; background-color: #FFFFFF;">
      <a title="Return to Home Page" href="index.html">
      <img src="images/template_02.gif" alt="Return to Home Page" height="119" width="140" class="style3" title="Home" /><img alt="Great Lakes Window Cleaning" src="images/great%20lakes%20window%20cleaning.gif" width="591" height="64" class="style3" longdesc="Lansings Leading window cleaning service since 1975" /></a>
      <div style="position: relative; width: 621px; height: 37px; z-index: 9; left: -2px; top: 16px; background-image: url('images/wavebar.gif'); margin-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px" id="wavebar" class="style1">
       <div style="position: relative; width: 601px; height: 21px; z-index: 1; left: 5px; top: 14px" id="layer1" class="style2">
        <a href="Residential/index.html">Residential&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;
        <a href="Commercial/index.html">Commercial</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;
        <a href="High-Rise/index.html">High- Rise</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;
        <a href="Gutters/index.html">Gutters&nbsp;&nbsp; </a>
        <a href="employment/employment.htm">Employment</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
        <a href="about/about.html" style="left: 453px; top: 0px">About Us</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
        <a href="contact.html" style="top: 0px; left: 524px">
        Contact Us</a></div>
       <p>&nbsp;</p>
      </div>
     </div>
     <!-- End Masthead -->

  • I think you are going to need to provide the whole page, not just this snipped, i wrapped this code in:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>blah</title>
    </head>
    <body>
        --- your code was put in here ---
    </body>
    </html>

    It looked the same in IE7 and Firefox 3.0.8 and pretty normal.

    If you dont want to post the whole thing, at least what DOCTYPE was rendered by expression web at the top of the page?

  • You'll want to post this in the Expression Web forum. This is the Design forum. I can more this thread over there if you'd like.
