Apps for Office API - Content language localization RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are in the process of implementing localization for our app, and need to determine the nationality of the users language and data possibly separately, especially in cases where the language can be similar to another but the data formats are different, as well as support all languages/formats in Excel 2013.

    Context.contentLanguage ( and Context.displayLanguage ( look to be available for this explicit purpose, but I seem to have come across an issue. This can be seen by following the example in Context.contentLanguage:

    1) Create a new Apps for Office project.

    2) In Home.js change the 'getDataFromSelection' function to:

    function getDataFromSelection() {

    3) Change Excel Content Language to New Zealand (File > Options > Language) and restart Excel.

    4) Run App and press button (Says 'en-US'):

    NOTE: This same thing happens for 'Context.displayLanguage'
