    Rebuilding the project seems to fix the issue even though no changes have been made to the project.

  • Hi Paul,

    There is no EF 5.1. Do you mean EF 4.1 or 5.0 or possibly the EF 6.0 Alpha?

    This is inside WCF by the look of it, yes? So you are using EF to get data from the database and are then sending the datasets over the wire or? If you could give me a bit more information about your setup then I might be able to help more.

    My initial reaction is that it is a problem with the WCF part of the solution rather than EF. But I could be wrong about that.

    We are seeing a lot of great Entity Framework questions (and answers) from the community on Stack Overflow. As a result, our team is going to spend more time reading and answering questions posted on Stack Overflow. We would encourage you to post questions on Stack Overflow using the entity-framework tag. We will also continue to monitor the Entity Framework forum.

    Sorry, I have edited post to correctly show version, I meant WCF Data Services 5.1 and Entity Framework 5.0.

    I just created a basic project and added a WCF Service after I created the Entity, am not sure what I can check, the service is as follows:

    using System;
    using System . Collections . Generic;
    using System . Data . Services;
    using System . Data . Services . Common;
    using System . Linq;
    using System . ServiceModel . Web;
    using System . Web;
    using CP . Web . Data . Addresses . UK . RoyalMail;

    namespace CP . Web . Data . Addresses . UK . RoyalMail
    {
    	public class AddressService : DataService<AddressEntities>
    	{
    		// This method is called only once to initialize service-wide policies.
    		public static void InitializeService ( DataServiceConfiguration config )
    		{
    			// TODO: set rules to indicate which entity sets and service operations are visible, updatable, etc.
    			// Examples:
    			config . SetEntitySetAccessRule ( "*" , EntitySetRights . AllRead );
    			// config.SetServiceOperationAccessRule("MyServiceOperation", ServiceOperationRights.All);
    			config . DataServiceBehavior . MaxProtocolVersion = DataServiceProtocolVersion . V3;
    			config . UseVerboseErrors = true;

    		}
    	}
    }

    the markup is:

    <%@ ServiceHost Language="C#" Factory="System.ServiceModel.Activation.WebServiceHostFactory, System.ServiceModel.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Service="CP.Web.Data.Addresses.UK.RoyalMail.AddressService" %>

  • Hi Paul,

    From a support perspective this is really beyond what we can do here in the forums. If you cannot determine your answer here or on your own, consider opening a support case with us. Visit this link to see the various support options that are available to better meet your needs:  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=fh;en-us;offerprophone.

    If Microsoft determines that a problem is the result of a defect in a Microsoft product, you will not be charged for that incident.

    Thanks,

    Cathy Miller
