My TFS SQL Reporting Service Service won't start

Question

Hi,

I am running TFS 2005.  For some reason, my reporting services service for TFS will not start.  I get no error anywhere, not in the event log, not in the SSRS logs, other than the generic "The service did not repond in a timely fashion" message when the service fails to start.  It is configured using a domain account that has been granted the proper access in the SQL Server Reports database and is also a local admin on the server. 

This was working fine for years, and suddenly it just stopped working.  I tried starting the service under the domain account for SSRS that I used when I isntalled TFS, as well as others.  The only account that works is my admin account, but I don't want to use that.

Any idea why this doesn't work?

Set the ServicesPipeTimeout in registry to increase the timeout wait time.
