query problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • Tried to make a form where u can select a name from a listbox and then get the relevant info from the database
the info that comes from the same table as which the names ar ein works fine
but the other texboxes always stay on the same values
so I went to change the quries
but everytime I want to save the new query I get "schema returned by new query differs from base query"
without being able to change anything
I've tried to remake the database or use another one without succes

kinda running out of ideas and I have to hand in the assignment soon
so if anyone knows how I can fix it it would be greatly apreciated

  • You may want to add the Network service account into the database if you are in, then you need to post some SQL code at the T-SQL forum here so your SQL could be cleaned up by experts.  Then I have covered some known issues with the listbox with alternative versions you can use and the place to get more needed info on the listbox.

  • the listbox works perfectly fine too
the problem is that data from other tables then the one I used in the listbox isnt changing
and there's nothing wrong with my sql code
it works perfectly fine in the query builder
it's just when I click ok to actually apply it to the textbox that I get the warning without being able to continue

say for example I have table one with
    id          name               ref nr
    1            jos                   01
    2            louis                02

    and as second table
    ref       age
    01       27
    02       29

if I load the form it lists
    listbox selection: jos
    textbox 1: jos
    textbox2: 27

now if I select another entry in the listbox
    listbox selection: luois
    textbox1: louis
    textbox2: 27

so it remains on default values for data that is listed in other tables (even though I made the relations)
