VS2015 Debug operation taking longer than expected

    Question

  • I'm using Visual Studio 2015 Express edition for developing small (C# Windows Forms) applications. When I create a new (blank) C# Windows Form Applications and starts to debug I have next situations:

    1. Platform Target Any CPU, Prefer 32-bit enabled, no breakpoint : no problem
    2. Platform Target Any CPU, Prefer 32-bit enabled, and a breakpoint : no problem
    3. Platform Target Any CPU, Prefer 32-bit disabled, no breakpoint set : no problem
    4. Platform Target Any CPU, Prefer 32-bit disabled, and breakpoint set : problem

Last situation, I first get message:

A 64-bit debugging operation is taking longer than expected

This may be caused by incompatibilities with 3rd party networking software.

    Next I've this message:

The debugger's worker process (msvsmon.exe) unexpectedly exited. Debugging will be aborted.

At the event logger I see a combination of three events:

Event 1001 : Window Error Reporting

    Fault bucket 120034008, type 28

    Event Name: APPCRASH

    Response: Not available

    Cab Id: 0

    Problem signature:

    P2: 14.0.24720.0

    P3: 564e96d6

    P4: OLEAUT32.dll

Event 1002 : Visual Studio Remote Debugger

The description for Event ID 1002 from source Visual Studio Remote Debugger cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

  • Hi mvorage,

    >>A 64-bit debugging operation is taking longer than expected

This may be caused by incompatibilities with 3rd party networking software.

If possible, please refer to this blog:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dsvc/archive/2013/12/31/visual-studio-debugging-issue.aspx

Please make sure that it is not related to the 3rd party network software like Anti-Virus and VPN products.

In addition, what is your windows Environment, 32 bit 64 bit?

If you set the Project Debug Platform Target to x86, how about the result?

    Best Regards,

    Jack
