  • Pixels are the little dots that make up the image on your computer screen. Each one changes color according to your computer's instructions, so when you run the code "Shapes.AddRectangle(100, 100)", it sets 10,000 pixels to a certain color. These 10,000 pixels are only inside the application window. Every time your code runs, and something is added to the window, or you move the application window, or anything is changed, the screen has to change the of one, or often many pixels to create the image on your screen.
